Internationally Known DeWitt Artist’s Work to be on View at the Figge Art Museum

Davenport, Iowa (Tuesday, February 21, 2023) – Veiled: The Art of Heidi Draley McFall will be on view in the Figge Art Museum’s second-floor Katz Gallery beginning Saturday, February 25. Arrestingly evocative, her large-scale portraits invite audiences to explore the expressions of her subjects. This is McFall’s first solo museum exhibition and features her largely unseen recent series of pastel drawings coated in resin. Based near DeWitt, Iowa, McFall is a self-taught artist whose work has been part of group exhibitions at museums across the country and in Italy.

Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960, a traveling exhibition organized by the American Federation of Arts and the FIDM Museum at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles, opens to Figge members on Saturday, February 11, and to the public on Tuesday, February 14.

Figge Art Museum: Let there be Light $4 Million Evanescent Field Public Light Sculpture Receives Funding
December 15, 2022 | 9:00am

Davenport, Iowa (December 15, 2022) – The Figge Art Museum was awarded $1.6 million through Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Destination Iowa Creative Placemaking Fund to support the installation of a new public light sculpture, Evanescent Field, by internationally acclaimed light artist Leo Villareal. Villareal is known for his site-specific light installations, including San Francisco’s Bay Bridge, The Bay Lights; Illuminated River, a public work of art that unites 9 London bridges through one artwork; Multiverse, a tunnel installation at the National Gallery of Art; and more. Villareal uses binary code and simple structures to create complex light sequences through custom software that incorporates a site’s environment, creating a “digital campfire” around which people can gather to experience art.
