Davenport, Iowa (June 27, 2024) – This summer, escape the heat and immerse yourself in the world of art with FREE admission to the Figge Art Museum during the entire month of July.
Generously sponsored by Cal and Jill Werner, visitors will have complimentary access to all of the exhibitions on view, including Walter Wick: Hidden Wonders!, Illuminated Manuscripts from the Figge Collection, Reckonings and Reconstructions: Southern Photography from the Do Good Fund as well as the Figge’s permanent collection galleries.
“Art is a universal language that connects us all. We are committed to ensuring that art is accessible to everyone in our community, regardless of their background or means,” said Figge Interim Executive Director Melissa Mohr. “Thanks to the generosity of Cal and Jill Werner, we’re able to offer free admission to the Figge this July, welcoming visitors from all corners of our community.”
In addition to free admission, the museum will offer a one-hour session of learning, exploring, and creating for all ages during the “Big Picture in the House” sessions. These sessions are taught by Figge Outreach educators and offered every Wednesday in July from 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. in the Figge’s Quad City Bank & Trust Grand Lobby. Registration is encouraged at www.figgeartmuseum.org.
Find the free art cart in selected galleries on Tuesdays and Fridays where a trained docent will have books, objects, gallery games and information for exploring art topics in new ways. Experience a free artist talk for families with Walter Wick on July 18 and a free tour of Hidden Wonders on July 25, both part of the Figge’s Thursday night programming. A detailed schedule of all the Thursday night programs can be found on the Figge website.
Free admission runs from July 2-July 31, 2024. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the arts without any cost. For a full list of classes, programs and events, visit: www.figgeartmuseum.org.
