EVENT
The View From Where We Stand: A Reflection by Black Women Artists
October 19, 2023 | 5:00pm - 8:00pm

LOCATION: Figge Art Museum

5:00 p.m. Public Reception
6:00 p.m. Artist Talks: Gaye Shannon Burnett, Latoya Lewis, Nicole Davis, and Gwen Patton
7:15 p.m. Exhibition Tour with the artists

This event is a powerful response from four talented local Black women artists to the exhibition, Art and Activism at Tougaloo College. As individuals whose artistic journeys are deeply intertwined with their African heritage and the lived experiences of navigating the complex web of race, gender, and racism, they are compelled to amplify their voices and shed light on the profound intersection where art meets social justice. Admission is FREE.

Free admission for Thursdays at the Figge sponsored by Chris and Mary Rayburn
