  • Siqueiros: Walls of Passion (2019) - Approximately 1 hour
Directed by Lorena Manríquez & Miguel Picker and produced by Lorena Manríquez SIQUEIROS: WALLS OF PASSION captures the story of Mexican visual artist David Alfaro Siqueiros, a controversy-stirring revolutionary and lifetime activist who lived with theatrical flair and painted on an epic scale. The film also touches upon the resurrection of his Los Angeles Mural “America Tropical,” located at the birthplace of Los Angeles and later championed by the Chicano movement as a symbol of its oppressed culture. As one of the primary advocates of modern public art, Siqueiros was one of the first muralists to paint on the exterior of buildings to bring art closer to the people, Siqueiros made his name on the world stage: he painted murals in Mexico, the U.S., Cuba, Chile, and Argentina; fought as a soldier in the Mexican Revolution and the Spanish Civil War; and even taught Jackson Pollock the drip technique in his experimental workshop in New York.

Second Saturdays are made possible by a generous grant from Art Bridges Foundation Nationwide ‘Access for All’ initiative. These days will offer broader access to a diverse array of exhibitions and highlight the museum’s comprehensive art education programming.
