6:30 p.m. Curator Talk: Dr. Jonathan Stuhlman
Join Dr. Jonathan Stuhlman, the Mint Museum’s Senior Curator of American Art, as he explores Breck’s work within the context of both European and American Impressionism during his talk titled: "You Don't know Jack (and you're not alone): Rediscovering John Leslie Breck." Even for those familiar with American art, the name John Leslie Breck (or Jack, as he was known to his friends) may not ring any bells. Although Breck was integral to the development of American Impressionism, he has historically made only brief appearances in books and exhibitions on the topic. Until now there has been neither a retrospective of his work or publication about him. This talk will trace Breck’s artistic development over the course of his brief career, placing him within the context of American art of his time.
Come early to explore the exhibition and partake in a cash bar starting at 5 p.m. Admission is free from 5-8 p.m. every Thursday. No registration required.
Free admission and programs for Thursdays at the Figge sponsored by Chris and Mary Rayburn
