The Rock Island Art Guild and Figge Art Museum are proud to announce the call for entries for the 42nd Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition that is scheduled to be on view February 26-May 15, 2022. Artists living within 200 miles of the Figge Art Museum working in any medium, including performance, sound, video, digital art, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and works on paper, are encouraged to apply.
Artists may submit up to three works for consideration, per $35 application fee. We are also pleased to announce the new $300 “Digital Art, Performance, Sound, and Video Award”. This year’s juror Susan Watts, owner and director of Olson-Larsen Galleries in Des Moines, Iowa, will select the works in the exhibition and the award winners.

All two-dimensional works must be ready to be installed (preferably with D-rings securely mounted to the back). Glass is acceptable for glazing works under 14 inches in any direction, if larger plexiglass is strongly recommended. Frames and mats must be clean and in good condition. D rings are strongly preferred over wire. Hanging works may not exceed 6 x 8 foot framed dimensions. Three-dimensional work should not exceed 10 foot x 12 foot x 10 foot, be freestanding, and must be movable by 2 people. All works must have an identification label on the reverse or underside of the work. Works requiring site specific installation or assembly must come with clear instructions and/or diagrams. Installation by the artist may be requested.
The exhibition is open to artists residing within a 200 mile radius of the Figge Art Museum (225 West 2nd Street, Davenport, Iowa, Please click on this map link to see the radius for entrants). Entries are limited to 3 original works of art (per $35 entry fee) and the entries must have been created within the last 5 years. Giclée reproductions will not be considered for inclusion in the exhibition. Works with multiple components will be considered as one entry. Works previously exhibited in the Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition will not be accepted. Works which are currently in, or which will be acquired by a private or museum collection during the course of the exhibition will not be accepted. Anyone who lives within the circle on the map is eligible to apply.
The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for items damaged due to improper packing or from transit damage. All work will be insured by the Figge Art Museum for the duration of the exhibit. Work will not be insured for more than the market value.
The jurors will select artworks for the exhibition based on the artist submitted digital images, with the artist’s name withheld. The jurors will choose the award recipients after seeing the installed exhibition in person.
The Rock Island Art Guild and the Figge Art Museum reserve the right to photograph works for the purpose of documentation, education, and publicity. Museum visitors are allowed to photograph artwork, without flash, during this exhibition. Works may be included on both the Rock Island Art Guild and Figge Art Museum’s websites. Submission of an entry to this exhibition constitutes an agreement with all conditions of this prospectus by the entrant.
DELIVERY/RETURN OF ARTWORK
Artists are responsible for the whole cost of shipping. Mailed works must arrive by February 17, 2022 with a prepaid return label enclosed. Hand delivered works may be delivered on February 17,18, or 19 between 10:00 am and 4:00pm. Works should be deposited in the lobby of the Figge Art Museum located at 225 West 2nd Street in Davenport, Iowa, at the designated area. Pick up dates for works are May 19, 20, and 21 between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Figge Art Museum. ID may be required before works are released. The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for works which are not picked up after 30 days from the close of the exhibition.
