U.S. b. 1941Upper Yellow 88.0001
California Bay-area artist, Joe Doyle, has used a style in Upper Yellow called abstract illusionism that layers abstract forms and arranges them on the flat canvas in order to suggest spatial depth. In 1979, Doyle began a series that includes this work, using circle or target shapes. The paint is applied by airbrush and thick acrylic paint that is "combed" in. In this painting, Doyle explores the precision of vision, combining both abstraction and perspective.
