Herman More
U.S. 1887-1968Self Portrait 46.0849
Herman More, who was at one time the director of the DMA, studied painting at the Art Students' League in New York. He was influenced by the work of Paul Cézanne, which is evident in the strong composition of his self-portrait. The still life and architectural elements in the background have been flattened to provide a balance of line, form and color.
