John Dilg

U.S b. 1945
Iowa City Landscape #32 76.0025

John Dilg's abstractions of Iowa landscape as seen from the air or at a distance, take the contours and sections of Iowa's rural geography and turn them into juxtapositions of line and color. By not "naming" or titling his works with any recognizable reference, Dilg maintains anonymity for the landscape. Dilg graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and took a teaching position at the University of Iowa. He also taught drawing and painting classes at the DMA in the 1970s.
