U.S. 1883-1962Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street, N.Y. 29.0801
Guy C. Wiggins consistently painted winter scenes with falling snow and especially favored capturing the qualities of thickly blowing flakes and briskly moving crowds. Known primarily for his impressionist views of New England and urban New York, Wiggins traveled extensively as a young man with his father, artist Carleton Wiggins. After deciding to become a painter, Guy entered the New York National Academy of Design to study painting under Robert Henri. Following his father's example, Wiggins took his own family with him to Europe several times on sketching and painting trips.
