Free Film at the Figge: "Boy" (2010)

Join us at the Figge in the John Deere Auditorium for a FREE screening of Boy (2010) beginning at 6:30 p.m. An 11-year-old devout Michael Jackson fan who lives on the east coast of New Zealand in 1984, welcomes home his absentee criminal father, who has returned to retrieve a bag of money he buried years ago. Boy was the highest-grossing film of all time in New Zealand. Internationally, it earned over $43 million, while ticket sales in the U.S. totaled a mere quarter of a million dollars. Director, screenwriter, actor Taika Waititi went on to enjoy significant critical and commercial success in 2019 with JoJo Rabbit

New Zealand Film and TV awards: 13 nominations and seven wins, incl. Best Film, Director, Screenplay
