Grant Wood
U.S. 1891-1942Iowa Cornfield 60.1013
In this late study, done out-of-doors, Wood paints the geometric forms of shocks of corn balanced against both the hedgerow and the autumn trees. Wood has also used a cross-hatching technique in the deeper shadows of the hedgerow and in his brushwork on the fields and shocks of corn, a technique he used in some of his other paintings.
