Brand Boeshaar Scholarship Program

A scholarship program managed by the Figge Education Department.

Lillian L. Brand was a lifelong resident of the City of Davenport and worked as an executive secretary for the Dewey Portland Cement Company.  Miss Brand shared a house on Locust and Harrison with her two sisters Isabelle M. Brand and Lucille Brand Boeshaar.  Lucille's son, William Brand Boeshaar, died while he was an art student at Saint Ambrose University.  It is because of William's interest in art that Miss Brand left her estate in a trust to establish the Brand Boeshaar Scholarship.

The Brand Boeshaar Scholarship Program is funded by the Brand Boeshaar Foundation Trust and administered by the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.  The Figge Education Department manages the portfolio review and related programs.

Graduating high school students in eastern Iowa and western Illinois who wish to study fine art, commercial art, art education or art therapy may apply for the scholarship.  Each March the Portfolio Review Committee selects recipients for the four $12,000 scholarships.
