Summer Drawing Academy
SDA is designed to give students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade a college-level studio experience. Students will experiment with many drawing materials and techniques and receive advice on how to prepare portfolios for college admission and scholarships. The program also provides students with an opportunity to meet other students from schools in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. Students completing the session will have an opportunity to display a work in the Figge Community Gallery and attend a reception where they will be recognized for their achievements.
This program is a wonderful opportunity for young artists, and due to funding made possible by the Brand Boeshaar Foundation and Western Illinois University, costs are minimal for students!!!! Students must provide their own sketchbook, newsprint pad, and a portfolio case to hold their drawings. Students must also pay a $15 materials fee that covers the cost of matting their work for the Figge Community Exhibition. All other costs are covered.
