RIVER CURRENTS PROGRAM

This collaborative program with the River Music Experience (RME) enables students to experience the visual arts and music. The River Currents Tour was designed for fifth grade students, but it can easily be adapted to any grade level.

At the Figge, students will become aware of the importance of art museums in preserving history and culture. Students will also experience the building’s architectural features, learn how exhibitions are installed and artwork is cared for, and explore exhibitions and the collection.

At the RME, students will learn how our cultural heritage was influenced by the blues and other forms of roots music as the music traveled up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to the Delta, through Memphis and St. Louis , and on to the Quad Cities. Live music and a multi-media presentation will be used to help students understand and value music as they realize the importance of music as a reflection of our ever changing society.

Please contact both organizations to schedule your tour.
