Figge docents can come to your classroom to present art appreciation programs using color transparencies or Power Point presentation on cd. Teachers must schedule programs at least three weeks in advance and provide an overhead projector or laptop computer and projection/screen.

Westward Ho!
Experience the “wild West” through the eyes of artists who traveled to the American West in the 19th century. Western landscapes and images of cowboys and Native Americans will be discussed.

Grant Wood: Down on the Farm
Become aware of issues that concern farmers now, and in the past, including tilling and planting, livestock, harvesting crops, and weather as you view paintings by Grant Wood and other Midwestern artists.

African-American History and Culture

Explore many issues that have played a central role in African-American history and culture. Students will discuss slavery, racial discrimination, and civil rights as they view art created by African-American artists.

Christian Art

Parochial schools may choose from several programs including Saints and Angels, Great Stories from the Bible, and Martyrs. Programs that relate to the Christian Church calendar during Christmas and Easter are also available.
