C. A. Ficke Society

Planning for the Future

In 1925, Charles A. Ficke gave his outstanding art collection to the City of Davenport.  Now, 83 years later, the Figge Art Museum has a rich history of planned giving.  The C. A. Ficke Society recognizes supporters who have included the Figge in their wills or estate plans, ensuring the museum will be able to continue to build its collections and educational programs.

When you join us by naming the Figge as a beneficiary of your estate plan, you link your legacy to the efforts of many others who share your values, your vision and your passion.  You do not need to be wealthy to leave a legacy and there are many options for planned giving.

  • Include a gift to the museum in your will or revocable trust.  You may wish to leave the Figge a bequest for a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.  Your gift could include cash, stock, bonds or personal property.  The Figge could also be named to receive the remainder of your estate or as a contingent beneficiary, if other beneficiaries do not survive you.  Your estate receives a charitable deduction for your bequest to the Figge.
  • Designate the Figge as a beneficiary in your retirement plan.  Retirement plan assets may be subject to very high tax rates at your death.  Designating the Figge to receive the plan's assets can provide an important gift at considerable tax savings.
  • Name the Figge as a beneficiary or owner of an existing life insurance policy or purchase a new policy to benefit the musuem.
  • Establish a life income trust that enables you to receive income for life while making a gift to the Figge.  This type of planned gift allows you to obtain an income tax deduction, reduce your estate taxes and protect your financial security during your lifetime.
  • Assign tax-advantaged gifts of securities, property or art to be made over time, during your lifetime.
  • Designate a gift of art that the Figge has agreed to accept.

Although cash contributions to the Figge are always appreciated, these are flexible options that can benefit you and the Museum.  In addition to potential tax benefits, C. A. Ficke Society members also receive special opportunities that include:

  • Exclusive invitations to Museum events and programs
  • Recognition on the Figge donor panel
  • Recognition in the Annual Report and other publications
  • Invitation to the Annual Recognition Dinner
